Spring is almost here, and with it comes warmer weather that can wreak havoc on the leather seats in your Mercedes-Benz. For Mercedes-Benz owners, there is a pride of ownership that comes the minute the new owner drives the car off the dealership lot. Owners take care of their babies. Most drivers will spend the money to take their vehicles in for a regular check up, but this will only take care of the outside of the vehicle. To keep the vehicle looking like new, it is equally important to maintain the interior of your Mercedes-Benz, especially leather seats. Here are a few tips on how to keep those leather seats looking like new.

Determining Which Product To Use

There are a lot of products out there that will take care of the leather seats in your Mercedes-Benz. The challenge is determining which one is the right one for your vehicle. If you’re unsure of which product to use, your Mercedes-Benz service center will be happy to recommend one. However there are a few things to keep in mind which should make choosing a product easier.

First, make sure the product is indeed meant for leather, and not vinyl. Leather has microscopic fibres that require oils to keep them flexible and not brittle. The oils will evaporate over time and need to be replaced. Secondly, make sure the product does not contain neats foot oil, lanolin, mink oil or any other lard based ingredient. While these can be good conditioners, animal based products can leave the seats feeling greasy, and this grease can be transferred to the clothing of the people sitting on the seats.

When and How To Apply Conditioner

Leather conditioner should be applied every 60 to 90 days. The timing will depend on the climate the vehicle is in; the hotter and drier the climate, the more often the conditioner should be applied.

To apply the conditioner, use your hand or a damp terry or microfiber cloth. The cloth should be slightly damp to prevent too much of the conditioner from soaking into the cloth. Start at the top of the seat and work down toward the bottom of the seat in small circular motions.

Some leather seats are actually a combination of leather and vinyl, so it is not necessary to condition the vinyl portion of the seat. However, most luxury vehicles use all-leather seats. Leave the seats for about 20 minutes to allow the conditioner to soak into the leather, then buff with a clean dry cloth to remove any excess.

If you have questions about the maintenance of your Benz, stop by West Chester Mercedes-Benz dealer for answers on everything you need to know to keep your Mercedes-Benz looking new.

This winter, take a little bit of extra time to make sure your Mercedes-Benz vehicle has what it needs. Whether you’re driving to work on a blustery day or traveling across the country, there are a few things you should keep in mind when driving in the winter.

The first thing to think about is snow removal. You want to make sure your Mercedes isn’t covered in snow and ice. Cleaning your Mercedes’ windows of snow and ice is, of course, necessary to be able to see properly. You also should remove snow and ice from your vehicle’s hood and roof. Snow on the hood can break off and hit your own window, while snow on your roof could break off and hit the vehicle behind you.

If you live in an area that gets a lot of snow, you should consider snow tires. If possible, get your snow tires on their own set of rims, which makes storage and switching much simpler.

Keeping your fluids full, including your oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, steering fluid, transmission fluid and your windshield wiper fluid will all help during the winter, as well. In addition, keeping your gas tank full will help to minimize condensation and make sure you’ve got extra gas in case you get stuck in traffic during the winter.

Also, scheduling Mercedes-Benz service during midwinter is a good way to ensure your Mercedes-Benz runs well all year long.

When it comes to taking care of your Mercedes dealer near Princeton, nothing is perhaps so critical as the simple oil change. Your oil is your Mercedes’ life blood. When it gets old and clogged up, your car is going to have problems running and, eventually, quit altogether. So, it’s important that you’re careful when getting your oil changed. You need to choose a reliable and reputable service center.

There are plenty of horror stories when it comes to oil changes. For example, one quick service oil change facility left a rag under the air filter, forcing the rag to be sucked into the engine, bending an intake valve and cracking a piston. Other cases report people taking their cars in for an oil, lube and filter and finding that the oil had been replaced, but the filter hadn’t and none of the other items had been checked that the store claimed would be checked.

Most oil change facilities are honest and capable. However, your Mercedes is an investment. Why risk your investment by taking it somewhere where disaster could strike? You should choose only an authorized service center and an authorized mechanic to service your Mercedes, whether it’s replacing your brakes or just changing your oil.

Your Mercedes Benz is a fine-tuned, well-engineered machine. Still, it needs to be taken to a Mercedes Benz service shop to keep running in optimal condition. Between those service intervals, it’s a good idea to do some basic maintenance and inspections on your own.

One thing you’ll want to do on a monthly basis is to check the fluids in your Mercedes. While your Mercedes has sensors that will tell you when you’re low on fluids, it doesn’t hurt to take a few minutes to check on your own just in case one of those sensors stops working properly. You’ll want to check your oil, your brake fluid, your radiator fluid, your transmission fluid, your windshield wiper fluid and your power steering fluid.

Along with checking fluids, you’ll want to check under your car for leaks. while your air conditioner will probably leak water on a regular basis, you shouldn’t have any other puddles underneath your Mercedes.

You should also check your tires monthly. You should us a tire gauge and make sure they’re inflated to the proper level. Having tires that are over inflated or under inflated can not only be dangerous, it can also lessen your gas mileage.

It’s also a good idea to take a look at your belts and hoses. Open the hood of your Mercedes and look for any cracking or wear on your belts. Check to see that your hoses seem to be attached just fine, and that the ends aren’t cracked or frayed.

Your Lawrenceville (NJ) Mercedes dealer is ready to meet all of your service needs. Call us to schedule your appointment today.

Your Mercedes dealer in West Chester, PA knows that you want to keep your Mercedes running in the best possible shape at all times. After all, your Mercedes is more than a car; it’s an investment, and it’s a direct reflection on who you are as a person. One of the most important things you need to pay attention to in your Mercedes is your brakes.

When your brakes go out, you can wind up in an accident and being injured, or even killed. Fortunately, there are some warning signs your brakes will give you when they need to be serviced.

The first thing you want to listen to from your brakes is a high pitched squeal. This usually means your Mercedes brake pads need to be replaced. That sound comes about on purpose; there is a piece of metal in your pads that will rub against the other parts of your brakes and make that noise. While you might hear a similar noise when your brakes are wet, if you’re hearing it often, you probably need to replace your worn out brake pads.

Another noise to listen for is a grinding noise. A grinding noise usually means serious business. It means your brake pads have totally worn off. If your brakes grind, it won’t be long before they fail altogether. It’s time to get in to have them replaced, right away.

Listen carefully to your brakes, and they’ll tell you when it’s time to replace them. At the first sign of trouble, bring your Mercedes in to be serviced.

Your Mercedes-Benz air filter is a very important part of your vehicle. Changing it is easy, but it’s important to know why you have one.

The best way to describe the air filter is to compare it to your nose and your nostrils. It keeps the bad stuff out while allowing the air to flow in. Like you, your Mercedes-Benz needs to be breath and the air filter helps it to do that by stopping dust, dirt and other bad particles from entering the engine.

There are different kinds of air filters for the Mercedes-Benz. The most popular kind of air filter is paper, but most car experts will agree that cotton is best. In racing circles, foam is common.

Paper air filter are less expensive and disposable. Cotton, however, can be cleaned and re-oiled and allows for more air intake. As a result, Mercedes owners that use cotton air filters report higher performance. The one drawback to cotton air filters is that they are not very good for use in desert environments, high dust areas and extremely hot environments.

Keep in mind that under your closed hood while you drive, dust is not the only thing your air filter will encounter. It will also be visited by oil splash, fuel fumes, radiator anti-freeze and other natural automobile fluids – even in a well running Mercedes-Benz with no mechanical problems. Even the cleanest engine will have some fluid flying around. The air filter stops those particles from getting into the air valve while letting the free passage of air in.

You should change your Mercedes-Benz air filter at least once a year for maximum performance. If you don’t want to bother with that then get one that will not require changing. A reusable air filter can last as long as your car, but it does require periodic cleaning.

For professional repairs, stop by your West Chester Mercedes-Benz dealer today.

In this regard, a dealership is often a safe bet.

You should also do some research on the mechanic. Ask around, to see if any other Mercedes owners have had experiences, good or bad, with a particular mechanic. Check with the better business bureau, as well, to see if there are complaints against the mechanic.

We all know that our Mercedes-Benz needs fuel in order to run. However, we often neglect caring for the fuel pump which pumps the fuel to the injectors so we can start and drive our vehicle. If your fuel pump fails, you aren’t going anywhere.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to keep your fuel pump in working order. For instance, many fuel pumps fail because the driver “starves” it. This means that the driver runs the car too close to empty on a regular basis. This accelerates the wear and tear on the fuel pump and can damage it or cause it to stop working.

Another problem that fuel pumps often incur is sediment or rust. If anything besides fuel gets into the fuel pump, it could become jammed. This can cause damage to the motor by causing it to overheat. In this case, you may need Mercedes fuel pump replacement.

Fuel pumps can also simply wear out after years and years of use. Since they are running constantly while the car is on, the inner workings of the pump can simply wear out, causing less flow and pressure to keep the car running.

Keeping your Mercedes in good condition is not only a good idea, it’s a way to protect your investment. A Mercedes, more than most other vehicles, will retain its value over the years. Keeping up on some basic preventive maintenance can not only keep your Mercedes from breaking down, but it can also help to save you money.

What kinds of preventive maintenance do you need to do on your Mercedes-Benz vehicle? There are the basics, such as oil changes and tune ups. There are also other routine maintenance tasks, like rotating your tires, that you might not normally think of without some kind of a schedule or a reminder.

Following the regular Mercedes service schedule is key here. If you’re not sure what services you need and when, don’t hesitate to ask your Mercedes-Benz dealer’s service center. They can help identify what needs to be done. Don’t put these service events off.

You also need to be paying attention to what your Mercedes-Benz is trying to tell you. If your brakes are squealing, take it in. Don’t wait until they start to fail, or your repair costs could multiply severely.

Call your Princeton area Mercedes-Benz dealer today to schedule your preventive maintenance.

It can be easy when you drive your Mercedes vehicle day after day to miss the little things. Making time every few weeks to visually inspect your Mercedes tires can help to protect your investment, retain your car’s value, and even prevent breakdowns and accidents.

One of the things you need to regularly inspect on your Mercedes is your tires. You want to make sure there’s plenty of tread on your tire, so that you don’t lose traction on the road and so that you don’t risk getting a flat or having a blowout. There should be enough tread such that, if you place a Lincoln penny in the tread face down, you won’t be able to see any of the head.

You should also look at the tire pressure in your tires on a regular basis. Once a month is about right. You want to make sure that your tires are inflated to the proper level. Among other things, this will help you to have more control over the vehicle, get better gas mileage, and even help keep your alignment from going out on you.

If you have problems with your tires, make sure to call your Princeton area Mercedes-Benz dealer today and let us take care of it.
