Thirty Years of the Benz Mercedes G-Class
Earlier this week, Mercedes-Benz recognized the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Benz Mercedes G-Class SUV. To commemorate the historic event, the automaker is offering two special editions of the G-Class, which is the company’s longest-running production vehicle to date.
One of the versions – the EDITION30 PUR – is based on the previous G280 which had a 224-horsepower engine. This particular model comes with a rubber-coated floor, spray-protected controls and holes in the footwells to make cleaning the inside much easier and more convenient. The cargo area of the PUR has tie-down points and rails so you can secure your gear before you start driving around.
The EDITION30 is based on the G500 that has 388 horsepower. With this edition, you get the perfect blend of comfort and luxury. You’ll also appreciate the class of the platinum black paint and leather trim on the inside.
Unfortunately, you can only get these Mercedes vehicles by special order in Europe during March. However, you can check with a local Mercedes-Benz dealer and see how you can place an order and have it shipped to the United States. Check one out today and help the Benz Mercedes crew commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Benz Mercedes to Dabble in Portable Navigation Devices
The Benz Mercedes luxury brand of automobiles is attempting to “streamline costs and draw in buyers” by introducing navigation devices that can be used both inside the vehicle and outside. Harman International and TomTom GPS will be supplying the devices that will be available on eight Benz Mercedes models beginning in 2010. The multi-use navigation devices can attach to the dashboard of the Mercedes vehicles and then detached for going somewhere without the car.
“The major benefit is that carmakers will now have an affordable GPS and infotainment system that can be used by the millions of vehicle owners around the world that don’t own the more expensive in-dash units,” said an article by Motor Authority. According to Gearlog, these devices will be “a first step toward navigation modules that can be developed and certified on quicker schedules, then be mated to the cars on the assembly line or even at the dealership.”
The new GPS devices could “close the competition gap” between the current in-dash devices and portable devices. Automakers will appreciate the new technology because they have typically been about three years behind the portable GPS device technology which manufacturers can produce for a fraction of the price.
Decadent Additions Available for Your Benz Mercedes
If you own a Benz Mercedes, there are several decadent options you can choose to have added on for extra luxury. Here are just a few of those options that you can consider to make your Benz Mercedes better than the next guy’s.
Benz Mercedes Designo Interior
You can get standard leather in your Benz Mercedes or you can pamper yourself with Designo Interior. For an extra $12,000, you can enjoy velour floor mats, premium leather seats and wood trims.

Airscarf
A convertible Benz Mercedes makes a statement, but that statement could be “I’m freezing” if you have the top down in the winter. With the Airscarf, however, there is a vent just below the headrest that blows hot air around your neck and back to help keep your warm. This could cost between $510 and $3750 depending on the model and package you choose for your Mercedes-Benz.
These are just a few of the extras you can get for your Mercedes vehicles. Check with your local dealer about more extravagant options to customize your Benz Mercedes exactly the way you want it.
Tips for Reporting Vandalism to Your Benz Mercedes
If you’ve never been the victim of car theft or vandalism, consider yourself lucky. It can be a traumatic experience that leaves you feeling helpless and scared. This is especially true if you’re not sure what to do following the crime. Here are some tips to remember in case your Benz Mercedes ever gets stolen or vandalized.
1. Stay calm. Emotions can run wild following an act of theft or vandalism. But if you stay calm, you are more likely to think about things rationally and help the police more effectively.
2. Describe any unique characteristics. Did your Benz Mercedes have a crack in the windshield or a noticeable scratch? Let the police know this when reporting your car stolen to the police.
3. Make a list. If a thief has just broken into your Benz Mercedes to steal things, make a list of what’s missing. It may help the police spot a trend and find the perpetrator faster.
Mercedes vehicles tend to be a target for thieves because of their cost and luxury. Use these tips to report any problems with your Benz Mercedes so the cops can get the vandals or thieves before they do it to someone else.
Benz Mercedes Safety Features that Save You from Yourself
With modern technology in the auto industry, it probably won’t be long before we have a Benz Mercedes that drives itself. There are several safety features available for your Benz Mercedes and other vehicles that already help you stay safe and some even take commandeer the car for moment to ensure your safety and the safety of other drivers.
The Distronic Plus System, for instance, is available for some Mercedes vehicles and acts as a collision-prevention system. It uses radar technology to make sure there is enough distance between you and the vehicles ahead of you. If you start getting too close, the system alerts the driver. If you are approaching the car too fast, the system automatically cues up the airbags and tenses the seatbelts.
Safety features like this are ideal to help avoid collisions, but some opponents of features like this say they go too far. “Our fundamental philosophy is the understanding that the human is the smartest computer in the vehicle,” said one official with a luxury car company. “So we make sure the driver can make the decisions.” As such, these systems do not turn over total control to the car but rather alerts the driver so they can make the proper decision.
What are your thoughts about technology like this? Does it go too far or is it just part of the natural progression of safety features in automobiles?
New Concept Benz Mercedes to Appear at Detroit Auto Show
The 2009 North American International Auto Show is coming up in a few weeks and you can expect to see a new concept Benz Mercedes vehicle this year.
In an effort to continue towards its goal of being more eco-friendly and responsible, the Benz Mercedes company is debuting its Concept BlueZERO this year in Detroit, the home of automobile manufacturing.
The new concept car is based on the A and B-Class platforms and includes a “modular structure [allowing] for three different drive configurations.” It also runs on a battery that has a range of more than 100 miles. Another model is the BlueZERO F-Cell that runs on an electric motor powered by a fuel cell. This model has a range of almost 250 miles, making it a direct competitor of the Honda FCX Clarity and other cars in the class.
These Benz Mercedes vehicles won’t go into production just yet, though. Concept cars typically take a couple years to go from the concept stage to the production stage. Some concept cars do not even make it to the production stage. Keep your eyes peeled for these models at your local dealer.
Get a Benz Mercedes for the New Year (And Other Resolution Tips)
With Christmas finally behind us and the New Year fast-approaching, you might be thinking about making those resolutions. One of those resolutions probably has something to do with becoming more responsible with your finances and saving more money. Your Benz Mercedes dealers wants to offer tips on how to keep your budgeting resolution and come out better at the end of 2009 than you did at the end of 2008.
1. Create a written budget. The best way to get on a budget and stay on it is to create a written budget. Do this with your spouse and your family so everybody knows what is expected when it comes to the household finances. Post the budget around the house so everybody remembers it.
2. Write down every penny you spend. This is one of the best ways to lose weight, but it also works with finances. When you look at what you spend each week in a written format, you will see where all your money goes. You may also see places where you can make cuts.
3. Prepay your bills. Some people use their tax return to prepay their cell phone bill, electricity bill and even their cable bill for the rest of the year. Of course, this depends on how much your tax return is and the amount of your bills, but it does help you save money with all that extra money each month.
4. Invest in one of the affordable certified Mercedes vehicles at your local dealer. A certified Benz Mercedes is much less expensive than a new one and it’s an ideal way to enjoy 2009.
GLK350 Benz Mercedes Plans to Stomp Rivals
The new GLK350 Benz Mercedes crossover is gearing up for its 2010 launch. And judging from expectations, it’s going to be an awesome launch!
The new GLK Benz Mercedes is based on the automaker’s C-Class platform. Currently, it is going to be the “smallest and least expensive SUV in the German luxury manufacturer’s lineup.” But that doesn’t mean it sacrifices quality or luxury.
The base price for these Mercedes vehicles is less than $42,000. As such, it’s going to be a direct competitor for consumers looking at other vehicles like the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V.
Reviewers have already had the opportunity to take these Mercedes vehicles for a drive even though they won’t be at dealer lots until January. Here are a couple highlights from this writer’s review:
• The 3.5 liter V6 engine and 4MATIC transmission give it great handling and performance.
• The driver has a 10-way power seat.
• Dual climate controls ensure both the passenger and driver are comfortable.
• The 19-inch alloy wheels are the “crowning touch” for this model.
Can you think of a better way to start off the new year than with a top vehicle from a luxury automaker? Save those Christmas checks from grandma this month and visit your local Benz dealer in January to get one of these crossover vehicles.
2009 Benz Mercedes C-Class Wins IIHS Award
The C-Class Benz Mercedes has just received one of the most coveted awards in the industry – the Top Safety Pick for the 2009 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety award. The IIHS studies three categories related to safety – head restraints, side and rear impact and frontal offset. The C-Class Benz Mercedes received a “good” in each category.
The IIHS studies these categories to help consumers make an educated choice when buying a new car. They analyze real-life accidents as well as performing their own crash tests.
In addition to receiving good marks from the IIHS, the Benz Mercedes C-Class also has more than the standard safety features that you expect to find on most vehicles today. One of the newest safety features that you can add on to your C-Class Mercedes vehicles is the PRE-SAFE option that is an anticipatory occupant protection system. As futuristic as it may sound, this feature anticipates the time before a potential accident and then initiates measures to help prevent or minimize the effects of a collision.
