Whether it’s Mercedes Benz vehicles or an understanding of fine wines, there are some things that mark a refined lifestyle. While not everyone enjoys a good cigar, cigars are nevertheless becoming an increasingly popular sign that you have reached a certain level of sophistication.

Part of cigar smoking is understanding cigar cutters. Cigar cutters can be a tricky thing to navigate. There are several different types of cigar cutters. There is the punch cutter and the guillotine cutter, as well as the V-cutter. Everyone has their own opinion about what cutter is the best.

Each cigar cutter type has its pros and cons. The punch cutter, for example, is the easiest to use. The punch cutter also makes the cleanest cut in your cigar. The guillotine cutter is the only type of cutter you can use if you smoke a torpedo cigar, so it has its place, as well. V-cutters work well, but can lead to moisture collecting at the cigar tip.

Cutting a cigar with a punch cutter is relatively easy. You simply push and twist the circular blade of the punch cutter until it’s around an eight of an inch deep. From there, you’ll pull it out.

A guillotine cutter is a bit more difficult to use. The best way to use your guillotine cutter is to take off the tip of the cigar on a curve. You want to avoid taking the entire cap off at a right angle. Carefully pierce the tobacco on the cap, and slowly rotate your cigar until the cap is removed. This allows you to cut the cigar without causing it to start to unravel. Many cigar aficionados prefer a guillotine cutter with double blades. They believe that the double bladed guillotine makes a much cleaner cut than the guillotine with just a single blade.

Like your choice of vehicle, your choice of cigar cutter is, in the end, very much about personal preferences. You should try different cutters until you find one that you can effectively use, and one that is to your liking.

To further your sophisticated image, why not stop by your Princeton, NJ Mercedes Benz dealer and pick up a new Mercedes vehicle?

A recent study shows that 12% of CEOs in the United States drive a Mercedes Benz vehicle. This puts Mercedes nearly in a tie with BMW (which garnered 13% of CEOs who responded). One especially interesting aspect of the survey was that, out of all the employees who were interviewed, only 10% did not know what kind of vehicle their CEO drives.

This begs the question: what does your CEO’s car say about her?

Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, is famous for having driven a Ford pickup for most of his life. Warren Buffet drove the same Lincoln Continental for seven years. Some CEOs choose to drive a hybrid to show their concern for the environment. Some CEOs drive sports cars, to demonstrate that they are risk-takers or quick movers.

When your CEO drives a Mercedes vehicle, however, it says something different. It says that your CEO cares about quality. In many ways, it also says, “I’m a success, and so is our company. I’m proud of what our company has done, and want to show it off with a Mercedes vehicle.” In some ways, it helps to give employees confidence that the company is doing well.

Of course, choice of car can have an unintended effect, too. If a CEO is generally disliked around a company, any car choice will be the wrong one. If employees see their CEO as distant and even stuck up, they’ll criticize his choice of a BMW. On the other hand, if that same CEO drives a GMC pickup, they’ll criticize him for “pretending” to be able to relate to them.

CEOs who have a lot of dealings with client companies or vendor companies may choose to drive Mercedes vehicles to demonstrate to those other companies how stable and successful his company is. They recognize that a person’s choice of vehicle says a lot about them, and they want to put out the best possible impression. A Mercedes is one of the best ways to do just that.

Clearly, a CEO’s choice of vehicle is an extension of his relationship with his employees, with his company, and even with those his company does business with. If you’re a CEO or are interested in portraying an image of success, visit your Devon area Mercedes Benz dealership today.

There was once a time when owning a new Mercedes car was a goal that was completely unattainable by all but the richest few. For decades, owning luxury cars was something done by only those with too much money on their hands. But for nearly ten years, Mercedes has been gaining more and more market share as it brings its luxury into the reach of buyers in almost all price ranges.

According to economists, marketers and trend researchers, there are many factors going into this change. First is the rising power of women in the workplace. Women directly control an estimated eighty percent of buying decisions, and women on the whole like nice things. More women in the workforce also equals more two income households — something almost unbelievable just sixty years ago. Two incomes means it’s a lot easier to get your hands on a luxury car.

Second is the rising use of credit. For centuries, a person bought what they could pay for in cash. Generally speaking, not many people could buy a new Mercedes car with a wad of money. Now that personal credit is widespread and socially acceptable, your new Mercedes doesn’t have to be paid for in full before you drive it off the lot.

Lastly, prices are changing. According to an article in USA Today, research was done to see how much certain “luxuries” cost in terms of hours worked. In 1953, the average person had to work 140 hours to buy a dishwasher. In 2003, one only had to work 28. In 1959, one had to work 562 hours to buy a color television. Today, one has to work 23. As prices get lower — whether due to industry competition or simply the lowered cost of production and distribution — more people can buy.

For a new Mercedes Benz, stop by your Devon area Mercedes dealer today.

Your new Mercedes car has lots of trunk space, and you’re just in time for golf season. Coincidence? Maybe not. Here are some great area golf courses you might not have tried that give a great game for every skill level.

The Golf Course at Glen Mills, West Chester, PA

This beauty is consistently winning awards and acclaim from golfers and golfing magazines alike. Always voted one of the best 100 public access courses in the country, Glen Mills comes in at 6,636 yards from the longest tees. This course is a par 71, the course rating is 71 and the slope rating comes in at 131 on Bent grass.

Jeffersonville Golf Club

Surprisingly well equipped for a municipal golf course, the Jeffersonville Golf Club is a par 70 and 6,443 yards when played on the longest tees. Its course rating comes in at 69.6 and the slope rating is 119. The course was originally opened in 1931 and was designed by Donald J. Ross.

Mainland Golf Course

Located just 12 miles from the center of Fort Washington, the Mainland Golf Course is a public course is surprisingly challenging for any level of golfer. Golfers agree that Mainland is consistently well maintained and has tough enough pin placement. It’s a short par 70 course at 5,539 yards from the longest tees, and it’s rated at 66.7 with a slope rating at 117.

If you’re going to be doing a lot of driving this summer — driving in both senses of the word — make sure your new Mercedes car is set to ride beautifully. Take it in to your local Pennsylvania Mercedes dealer to make sure everything is in tip top shape where they can do everything from change your oil, rotate your tires, and everything in between.

Well known for its commitment to luxury, detail, and comfort, Mercedes does not disappoint with these three models.

The Mercedes C300 Sports and Luxury Sedans both start with a powerful 3.0 L V6 engine, capable of 228 hp and 221 lb-feet of torque, with a fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. They are both capable of 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds, and have a starting price tag of $32,475 and $34,175 respectively.

The Mercedes C350 Sports Sedan comes standard with an upgraded 3.5 L V-6 engine which will deliver more power. Rated for 268 hp and 258 lb-feet of torque, this engine will get a slightly lower fuel efficiency of 17 mpg in the city, while still getting 25 mpg on the highway. It will also get you from 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, and has a starting price tag of $37,775.

Perhaps appropriate for any vehicle with the name “Sport” in its title, the Mercedes C300 Sport Sedan comes with a 6-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter with a precise direct action rod-type linkage for quicker, more decisive gear changes. Also optional on this model, and standard on the Mercedes C300 Luxury Sedan and C350 Sports Sedan is a 7-speed automatic with rear wheel drive.
According to Mercedes, the automatic transmission includes many features to give the driver some feel over the car:

“Driver-adaptive programming adjusts shift points to the driver’s current driving style. Touch Shift allows [the] driver to manually downshift and allows upshifts by nudging the shift lever left or right from the Drive position. Shift into Optimum Gear programming allows one-touch selection of the best gear for maximum acceleration or engine braking by holding the shift lever to the left of Drive for one second.”
“Driver-selectable Comfort mode starts vehicle moving in 2nd gear or 2nd Reverse gear, and upshifts at lower rpm, to help improve control on slippery surfaces. The instrument cluster displays a readout of selected gear range and Standard/Comfort mode.”

Of course, all three models come with all of the features one would expect when purchasing a luxury car from Mercedes. The classic lines of all three models make them instantly recognizable as a Mercedes product, allowing one to join the ranks discerning car buyers.

Ready to come and test drive your next luxury vehicle? Stop by West Chester Mercedes, Mercedes – Fort Washington, PA, or Mercedes Benz – Wilmington, DE to take her for a spin.

If you’re looking for something to do with your family in Philadelphia for the weekend, look no further. Here are three popular and kid friendly things to do in Philly, so pack climb into the Benz and explore.
Phillies Defend Their NL East Championship

For the first time in 14 years the Philadelphia Phillies stepped up to the plate and advanced to the Major League Baseball playoffs in 2007. With an incredible roster in 2008, this year might be the year for the Phillies. Visit the recently built Citizens Bank Park where there isn’t a bad seat in the stadium and take the kids to the Phanatics Fun Zone where they can play in the biggest play area in the Major Leagues.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the Phillies experience is the food. Voted Best Ballpark Eats in the Food Network Awards, Citizens Bank Park has something for everyone. From cheese steaks at Rick’s Steaks to Crab Fries at Chickie’s and Pete’s to roast pork sandwiches at Tony Luke’s — whatever you do, arrive hungry.

Baseball As America Exhibit

There’s more than just Phillies games for baseball fans in Philadelphia this spring. The Baseball As America exhibit is on until May 11th and it features more than 500 artifacts from America’s favorite pastime’s history.
The first major exhibition of its kind, Baseball As America has a special section devoted to Philly’s rich baseball history. From the spikes Richie Ashburn wore in 1950 to Jimmy Rollins' helmet from the legendary 36-game hit streak to the 1980 Phillies World Championship ring, it’s a fascinating trip down memory lane for ball fans young and old.

Dad Vail Regatta

Visit the 70th racing of the Philadelphia tradition, the Dad Vail Regatta. This epic rowing event is the largest in the country and Philly welcomes over 3,500 athletes from over 100 teams across North America from May 9-10.
Witness the spectacle as crowds of over 10,000 watch two days of exciting racing. Make sure to come prepared, though — during the regatta Kelly Drive is closed, so you’ll have to park the Benz the Art Museum or Boathouse Row and take the shuttle bus to the grandstands.

If you want to get your Mercedes ready for summer, visit your Philadelphia Mercedes dealers, Mercedes – Fort Washington, PA, or Mercedes Benz of Wilmington, DE to perform your routine maintenance and get your vehicle in tip top shape just in time for cruising season.

In a world of ever increasing fuel costs and environmental awareness, Mercedes has stepped up to offer a greener alternative to the traditional Mercedes vehicle. Of course, they do so while still maintaining the luxury, comfort, and style Mercedes has become famous for. Enter the Mercedes A-Class, a fun alternative to the common hatchback with incredible gas mileage and the same Mercedes look and feel.

The Mercedes A-Class comes in either a three door or five door configuration and is available in either a diesel or traditional gasoline version. The Mercedes A-150 has a 4 cylinder 1.5 L engine and can attain 95 hp and 140 lb-feet of torque, while it tops out at a top speed of 109 miles per hour. The Mercedes A 200 has a 4 cylinder 2.0 L engine providing 136 hp and 185 lb-feet of torque, and will attain a top speed of 124 mph. Finally, the Mercedes A 200 Turbo will give drivers that extra boost with a 4 cylinder 2.0 L turbo engine with 193 hp and 280 lb-feet of torque, reaching a top speed of 141 mph.

The real story here though is the fuel efficiency of each model. The fuel efficiency will obviously decrease as one moves towards a bigger engine, and will depend on whether or not the model came with a manual or automatic transmission. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard with the A 150 and A 200 models, with a 5-speed automatic transmission is also available. For the A 200 Turbo, a 6-speed manual transmission is standard with an automatic transmission also available as an option.

Looking at the automatic transmissions, the A 200 Turbo gets an estimated 26 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway, the A 200 gets 29 mpg /48 mpg, and the A 150 gets an amazing 36 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway. With fuel costs rising all over the world and an increasing customer concern about the environmental impact of gas guzzling cars, the Mercedes A-Class is coming onto the market at just the right time to please European buyers.

While the Mercedes A-Class is not yet available in North America, there are lots of other North American luxury Mercedes you can choose from. Stop by your local Philadelphia Mercedes Benz dealers, your Fort Washington Mercedes Benz dealers or your Wilmington DE Mercedes Benz dealers to test drive your next luxury vehicle or visit the website for new inventory, pricing and more.
