Autumn Maintenance for Your Mercedes-Benz

September 11, 2009 | | Comments 0

mercedes serviceYou should always think about maintaining your Mercedes-Benz, but autumn is the perfect time for reinforcing those good maintenance habits. “Autumn is a great time for automotive maintenance and repair,” explains Jim MacPherson, a car care expert with an auto-related radio show in Connecticut. “It gives us time to repair the wear and tear and allows us to prepare for those colder days ahead.” Here are the basic things you should check before the frigid winter weather makes auto maintenance a nightmare.

• Tire Pressure and Wear – You want to make sure the tires on your Mercedes-Benz have the proper amount of pressure right now because air pressure tends to drop with colder temperatures. Test the pressure before the cold weather hits and then once a month thereafter. Also, make sure there is plenty of tread on your Mercedes’ tires so you can get proper traction in the slippery weather.
• Cooling System – Any leaks in your cooling system could cause damage to your radiator or other parts of your Mercedes-Benz. While your car probably won’t need the “cooling” aspect of the system, the engine coolant also acts as antifreeze to help your Mercedes withstand the very cold weather.
• Tune Up – If you have any problems with your car, the frigid temperatures will only make those problems worse. Get a proper tune-up and checkup to ensure your Mercedes-Benz is prepared and ready for the winter driving months.
