We all know that our Mercedes-Benz needs fuel in order to run. However, we often neglect caring for the fuel pump which pumps the fuel to the injectors so we can start and drive our vehicle. If your fuel pump fails, you aren’t going anywhere.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to keep your fuel pump in working order. For instance, many fuel pumps fail because the driver “starves” it. This means that the driver runs the car too close to empty on a regular basis. This accelerates the wear and tear on the fuel pump and can damage it or cause it to stop working.

Another problem that fuel pumps often incur is sediment or rust. If anything besides fuel gets into the fuel pump, it could become jammed. This can cause damage to the motor by causing it to overheat.  In this case, you may need Mercedes fuel pump replacement.

Fuel pumps can also simply wear out after years and years of use. Since they are running constantly while the car is on, the inner workings of the pump can simply wear out, causing less flow and pressure to keep the car running.

Who says you cannot combine sports, luxury, affordability and eco-friendliness all in one vehicle? It certainly was not Mercedes-Benz and the automaker’s 2010 ML450H Hybrid is here to prove it. The ML450H is MB’s first production hybrid that mixes gas and electric capabilities into one car for the ultimate in power and eco-consciousness. And when it debuted at the 2009 New York Auto Show, it was the only thing people could talk about!

Mercedes-Benz worked on the dual-mode engine with other automakers to come up with the best in the business. With the help of General Motors, Chrysler and BMW, the German automaker created a hybrid that is similar to the one used in the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. The engine consists of a gasoline-powered engine combined with a CVT, or continuously variable transmission, along with four clutches and twin electric motors. The German automaker also included Mercedes-Benz’s patented 4Matic all-wheel drive system to make this hybrid really stand out from the rest.

With this intricate system, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML450H Hybrid provides more than 330 horsepower along with 380 pound-feet of torque. But with all that power, you still get decent gas mileage. The EPA estimates that the 2010 ML450H gets about 21 miles per gallon in the city and nearly 25 miles to the gallon when driving on the highway. You can also get up to 60 miles per hour from a stop in less than 8 seconds. Tell me that’s not impressive for a hybrid!

Here’s something that is even more amazing about the ML450H: If you want to get even better performance (like if you want to show off at a red light or for your girlfriend), you can switch to Sport mode. This reprograms the transmission so you can get shorter shift times and eight fixed ratios for more speed and better acceleration. And while you are driving, you can get a real-time display right on the dash that tells you about how much charge is left in the battery, your fuel consumption and the energy flow so you can adjust your driving habits accordingly.

On the exterior, Mercedes-Benz decided to give the ML450H a low profile. It does, however, have a modified hood and a BlueEfficiency logo on the fender. You may also notice a hybrid badge on the back to show others its eco-friendly status.

The 2010 Mercedes S-Class S400 Hybrid is the company’s first ever hybrid vehicle to make it to market. The hybrid S400 comes with a 3.5 liter V6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. From the outside, you cannot even tell it’s a hybrid. The Mercedes S400 hybrid comes with all of the standard Mercedes bells & whistles that we have all grown to love.

One of the best parts of owning a Mercedes-Benz is the luxurious leather interior (if that’s the option that you chose). That’s why it’s important to take care of the leather upholstery so you can enjoy it for many years.

The first thing to do is to find some cleaner that is specifically formulated for leather upholstery. Taking a chance with any other types of cleaners is just asking for trouble. Find a soft rag for the cleaning procedure, too.

Next, be sure to clean the leather upholstery in small areas at a time. If you clean larger areas, you may forget what parts you’ve cleaned and letting the cleaner sit too long may discolor the leather. Work in small circular motions for best results.

Thirdly, dedicate yourself to taking care of the upholstery on a regular basis. Use a leather conditioner once each month according to the directions on the product. This keeps the leather soft and helps protect against cracking or splitting. Every three months, apply a leather protecting cream that gets the dirt and grime out.

Finally, keep your interior protected from the sun’s harmful rays as much as possible. If you can’t park in a garage, consider getting your windows tinted or at least getting a windshield visor to block the sunlight.

Mercedes has finally jumped on the environmentally savvy bandwagon with the 2010 Mercedes S-Class S400 Hybrid, and like everything they do, they are doing it with style. You probably have not heard much about the 2010 Mercedes S400 Hybrid with all of the other automakers coming out with hybrid models. But Mercedes-Benz is happy to be in the background as long as the company is making superior cars that the most discerning and distinguished car buyers will notice.
