More People Taking Care of Their Certified Used Cars
In the last few months, we’ve posted several blogs that reported how drivers were foregoing maintenance on their certified used cars in order to save money. While that trend is still going on for many drivers, some local service stations are noticing a surge in drivers wanting preventative maintenance on their certified used cars to ensure they last as long as possible.
This particular story is from a local newspaper in Virginia. Mechanics and service garages in Fredericksburg are much busier than they were about six months ago. That’s because drivers are beginning to realize that it’s much cheaper to get preventative maintenance on their certified used cars instead of waiting until the problem gets too expensive to repair. They can’t afford major repairs and they perish the thought of another car payment. As a result, they are taking better car of their cars.
The article also reports that drivers are, on average, hanging on to their cars longer than before. About 41 percent of Americans are currently driving a car that is at least 11 years old.
Part of the reason is the fact that they don’t want to make a monthly car payment. However, the recent credit crunch has made financing much more difficult to obtain, whether it’s for Mercedes vehicles or something more affordable.
Take some advice from someone who has learned the hard way. Pay a little extra now to take care of your vehicles or you’ll be paying a lot more later.
