High Tech Car Gadgets Available Today
Many of the new high-tech gadgets and gizmos for cars seem like the stuff of science fiction. Yet the advances are real, and are already available on high end models. Some, like Mercedes’ PRE-SAFE, are designed to improve safety. Others are fun and somewhat silly. Here is a car lover’s guide to some of the top advances in car technology.
Smart Safety Systems
PRE-SAFE is perhaps top in its class. Cars equipped with PRE-SAFE have the ability to take control of themselves to prepare for an impending crash. PRE-SAFE can close windows and sunroof, enact advanced seat belt tightening and force limiter systems, deploy airbags and even switch the vehicles seats to a safer position, all in the few seconds preceding an accident.
Electronic Stabilization helps drivers to maintain control. The electronic stability system works in tandem with braking assistance and other smart systems to limit the chances of skidding or spinning in emergency situations.
