With modern technology in the auto industry, it probably won’t be long before we have a Benz Mercedes that drives itself. Safety features like this are ideal to help avoid collisions, but some opponents of features like this say they go too far. “Our fundamental philosophy is the understanding that the human is the smartest computer in the vehicle,” said one official with a luxury car company. “So we make sure the driver can make the decisions.” As such, these systems do not turn over total control to the car but rather alerts the driver so they can make the proper decision.
