Hitler’s Mercedes-Benz Offers Historical Perspective

mercedes benzAt first thought, you may think purchasing a Mercedes-Benz owned by Adolf Hitler is evil. But to Dmitry Lomakov, these cars are a rare yet prudent symbol of Russia’s dominance during the World War II era.

“They are symbols of Russia’s victory,” explains Lomakov. “For Russians,” he says, “the second world war isn’t a historical event. For us it happened yesterday.” Lomakov directs the Moscow museum which houses and displays three rare vehicles that were once owned by Hitler’s Nazi regime. The facility has the Mercedes-Benz 540K which was once owned by Joseph Goebbels, the Horch-853 limousine that Hermann Goering owned and Martin Boorman’s MB 320.

But an avid collector recently purchased the most notable Mercedes-Benz used during Hitler’s tirade – the MB 770K, which was once owned by the tyrannical dictator himself. It was part of the dictator’s official fleet of vehicles and he has even been photographed standing in the luxury vehicle while crowds saluted him.

The price that the anonymous Russian collector paid for the memorabilia was not released, but Lomakov knows who bought it and he probably knows the price the man paid for it. “He may have bought Hitler’s car out of patriotism. Or as an investment,” he explained.

You don’t have to be a collector to appreciate the beauty and the luxury offered with a Mercedes-Benz. Check your NJ area Mercedes dealers to get a great deal on a new Benz today!

Mercedes SL-Class is Lightning on Wheels

Picture this. You are getting ready to merge onto the highway for a nice weekend getaway. It’s gorgeous out so you drop the top and prepare to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in about 5.3 seconds in your new 2010 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. Can you picture it? What a ridiculous specimen the new Mercedes SL-Class is. Not only does it scream class as you cruise by all of the “other” cars on the highway, but it does so in a way that makes other drivers do a double-take.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is definitely not a vehicle that’s all bark and no bite. The 5.5-liter supercharged V8 engine is a thing of beauty. The smooth growling sound that the engine makes is a perfect blend of aggressiveness, yet not distracting for the driver. You’ll never experience a smoother ride. If nothing else, schedule a test drive to check out the SL-Class Mercedes-Benz yourself.

If the 2010 version of the SL-Class is a car that you’re willing to wait on for a few years, but you need something to get you through until then, you should check out our extensive inventory of pre-owned Mercedes vehicles. What are Your Dashboard Lights Trying to Tell You?

Your Mercedes-Benz is a fine-tuned machine from one of the best auto manufacturers in the world. As such, it takes maintenance and TLC to keep it running smooth and at its optimal performance. So when a dashboard light on your Mercedes vehicles lights up, you want to get the problem taken care of right away. Here are some common dashboard warnings and what they are trying to tell you.

Brake Light
Some MB models have a dashboard light that alerts the driver when something is wrong with the brakes. If your parking brake is not on but the warning light is, the most common problem is low brake fluid.

Oil Light
If you see your oil light come on, it probably means you need to add oil to your Mercedes. Do this as soon as possible or you risk damaging the engine. If the light stays on after you add oil, there could be a leak in the oil pressure. Take it to a mechanic right away if this is the case.

Check Engine Light
The “check engine” light could refer to a number of problems with either your engine or the transmission. Sometimes it is as simple as a loose gas cap, but it’s best to get your Mercedes to a mechanic as soon as possible when this light comes to avoid further possible damage.

Is Your Mercedes Ready for Winter?

Winter is coming fast. In fact, some places in the country have already had major snowfalls! Whether you have experienced winter weather already this year or if it is still a little warm where you are, it’s not too late to prepare your Mercedes for the cold weather. Here are some tips to help you accomplish that.

Change Your Windshield Wipers
Windshield wipers are a vital component to staying safe in the winter weather. If your wipers are cracked or simply not working well, they may not clean off your windshield properly which can hinder your view. Installing new ones for the winter season may be extra cautious, but at least you will have more confidence in them.

Check Your Lights
With the winter months comes shorter days and earlier nights. As such, the lights on your Mercedes become used more. Give your lights a quick check by turning them on and walking around your vehicle so you can be sure other cars can see you when the sun goes down.

Inspect Your Tires
Proper traction is important during the winter months. If your tires are bald or worn, you might just slip and slide on the snow and wet roads. Instead, change any tires that look worn before the next snowfall.

These are just a few things you can do to help stay safe in winter driving. You can get a complete checkup at your Princeton, NJ Mercedes dealer. When it comes to keeping your family safe, a professional checkup is the least you can do.
