Powerful Executive Strategies

One of the most important parts of your job as an executive is setting the tone for your company. More than anyone else, it’s up to you to determine what direction your company is going to go.

Just like you navigate your Mercedes-Benz through the streets of the city, so you must navigate your company to a bright future. Here are some proven strategies you should follow to do so:

  • Forget the past. The past offers some valuable guidance, but don’t let it determine your destiny.
  • Think globally. No domestic market is big enough to contain your dreams. As boundaries erode, make sure your business is ready.
  • Make drastic changes when needed. Shake things up before you have a crisis. Don’t be afraid of drastic internal change.
  • Rely on the power of information management. Make sure you’re wired, and that you have the structure of systems you need to be successful.
  • Recognize and capitalize on your core competencies.
  • Empower employees to make decisions, and to manage their own affairs.
  • Redefine your quality standards. No matter how admirable things may be, they can always be improved.
  • Look for shorter cycle times and quick decisions. Shorter cycles mean higher profits.

Check your Mercedes Radiator Cap

It’s easy to keep on top of things like oil changes and burt out headlights on your Mercedes. However, there are some basic maintenance items you need to think about. In addition to checking your tires, listening for noises, watching for pools underneath your vehicle and generally being aware of what’s going on, there are some things under the hood you should check.

You should check your radiator cap every now and again. A bad cap usually won’t lead to a severe problem, but it will cause a loss of coolant and drips on your garage floor.

To check your Mercedes radiator cap, you need to start when the engine is cold. Remove the cap, and look carefully at the seal. Is the seal deformed? Are there cracks in the seal? If so, it’s simply a matter of purchasing a replacement cap and putting it on.

If you want to make sure your Mercedes is running the way it should be, come to your Mercedes dealer today. We’ll check everything out to make sure your vehicle is running just right, and at its optimal condition.

When It Is Time To Move On

Just like when a president leaves office, so too a CEO can have a so-called “lame duck” season during those final weeks or months with a company. If you’re looking down the road at the last day you’ll drive your Mercedes in to your company, there are some things you should do in order to help things go well.

First off, you have to make peace with your status. You need to recognize that your situation is about to change. Understand that there will be people on your executive team who will try to just wait out your exit, and get your successor to support their pet projects. They’ll also start to suck up to your successor instead of you.

One of the best things you can do is to coach your successor behind the scenes. Support your successor, and build their confidence. Transfer some power before it’s required, as a show of support.

A lame duck CEO can make some unpopular and difficult decisions that are, ultimately, better for the company. Make sure, though, you do so in step with your successor.

Eventually, you will learn to let go of your company. Leave the office sooner, and become only available to helping your successor. At that point, you can be fairly sure the company is ready to move on without you.

Mercedes Unveils M-Class Hybrid Vehicle

This month, Mercedes unveiled one of the most innovative vehicles to hit the market. Mercedes-Benz took advantage of the New York International Auto Show to unveil its new ML450 hybrid SUV.

The ML450 will go into production this fall, and is built in Vance, Alabama. It is powered by a V6 engine combined with a nickel metal hydride battery. The Mercedes ML450 can operate either on just electric or just gas power, or on both at the same time. This vehicle provides the driver with better fuel economy, and a way to help the environment with lower emissions than the standard Mercedes-Benz M Class.

The good news is that the Mercedes-Benz ML450 doesn’t sacrifice performance. It still performs on a level at par with other M class vehicles.

It is expected that this vehicle will cost more than the standard M-class vehicle. Industry analysts expect the vehicle to do well in terms of sales, and that it will appeal to people who want to make a difference with the vehicle they drive.

Expert Advice for Executives During Tough Times

It’s not easy being at the top of your company when things are looking down. It’s important that, as an executive, you do what you can to make sure you can to keep things going along smoothly. Jim Donald, former CEO of Starbucks and Pathmark, offers three important bits of advice in a recent issue of Fortune Magazine’s Blog.

The first thing Donald offers is the importance of communication. It’s important to reach all levels of the company with your message, from the top to the bottom. And that communication should be two-way, allowing employees to reply.

Donald also suggests that executives talk to the people on the front lines of the business. They’re closest to the customer on a daily basis, and they are most in tune with the market.

Finally, we should beware of success. Success can lead to risk aversion, which kills innovation. Don’t let your best people get restless or bored. Give them freedom to fail. You might just discover that some of the best and most profitable ideas are ones that require you to take a risk that no one else is willing to take, especially during hard economic times.

Taking Care of your Mercedes Paint Job

One of the most important parts of insuring the long term value of your Mercedes-Benz vehicle is taking care of the paint job. The quality engineering that goes into building a Mercedes is pretty amazing, but it can’t hold off the elements by itself. There are some important things you need to do to make sure the color stays just like it is.

First of all, you should wash your Mercedes using the correct tools. Use a cotton or a paint-safe microfiber washing mit. Use cleaners that are meant for automotive use. These products are pH balanced, and they are designed so that they won’t strip off the wax.

You should also make sure you spray all of the dirt and contaminates off your Mercedes before you begin to wash it. These things can scratch your paint if you just dive right into washing.

Wash and rinse your Mercedes one section at a time so that the soap you use doesn’t dry before you wash it off, as well.

Make sure you always dry your vehicle well. Drying prevents water spots. Cotton detailing cloths or a chamois made of sheepskin are ideal, and won’t scratch the surface of your Mercedes.

Caring for your Mercedes

If you drive a Mercedes SL500, you’re committed to your investment. These vehicles depreciate very little, and one of the best ways to keep your Mercedes SL500 in top shape, protect your investment and just look good driving the vehicle is to keep it washed and waxed.

If possible, you should wash your Mercedes SL500 with pure water and no soap. Wash it gently, using a hose or a power washer. You will use clean cotton rags to wipe it down. You can use deionized water to skip the drying phase, otherwise you should use soft towels or a chamois.

As far as wax goes, you can use basic auto wax. Some people might prefer a special exterior wax, and that’s fine too.

Even more than waxing, however, the key is to keep your Mercedes SL500 garaged both day an ight. Unless you’re driving it, you should keep it locked away. You might even consider an epoxy coating for your garage floor to prevent dust.

Book Review: The Story of the Mercedes-Benz Brand

If you’re a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast, you know that the Mercedes-Benz brand is on top of the world in terms of its reputation. If you’d like to know more exactly about how this brand came to be, you need to consider a recent book by author Leslie Butterfield.

In the book, Enduring Passion: The Story of the Mercedes-Benz Brand, Butterfield examines Mercedes-Benz as a brand phenomenon. Butterfield gives an insightful look at how the brand was developed over the years. Things like the myths surrounding the brand, as well as how Mercedes fared in the face of war, mergers and economic uncertainty are covered.

The book features a large format, and is illustrated richly. Many of the photographs have not previously been published. Here, you can read and see the life story of the Mercedes Benz brand, and trace its history as it has become a symbol of both elegance and power around the globe.

Combining Two Lifestyles

You’ve worked hard to get where you are in life. You’ve dedicated yourself to constant improvement. You’ve built, or helped to build, a company into a successful entity. You enjoy the fruits of your labor, and you live the executive lifestyle.

Still, there is something inside you that wants to make a difference in your world. You’re concerned, for example, about your impact on the environment. You want to reduce your carbon footprint, and you want to try to make the world a better place for your children.

While these two lifestyles – the executive lifestyle and the green lifestyle – are often at odds, they’re not mutually exclusive. The fact of the matter is that you can indeed live a green executive livestyle.

How do you do that? Well, just like anyone else. You switch out to CFC light bulbs. You recycle. You reuse items. You drive less.

You can also choose a more fuel efficient vehicle. Even Mercedes, beginning this fall, will offer a hybrid SUV. The Mercedes-Benz ML450 will offer executives a great way to go green. You can have all of the luxury and the capability of the best SUV on the planet, combined with a power plant that’s better for the planet.
