Some Homes in Detroit Less Expensive than Certified Used Cars

Now that Detroit is in the national spotlight with the 2009 North American International Auto Show, it’s could be interesting to look at the city where much of the industry began. Did you know, for instance, that there are hundreds of homes throughout the city that cost less than most certified used cars? It’s true. That’s not to say that certified used cars are typically expensive, but the city’s economy has been hit so hard that many homes are selling for less than $1,000! Here are some other facts about the city that you may find intriguing:

• Motown, the style of music that gave us such greats as The Temptations, The Supremes and Stevie Wonder, was founded in Detroit in 1957 by Berry Gordy, Jr.
• The first mile of paved road occurred in Detroit just a short distance from the Model T factory in 1909. The mile was on Woodward Avenue between 7 Mile Road and McNichols.
• More potato chips are consumed in Detroit than any other city in the world.
• Detroit is second in the nation when it comes to sales of fishing rods.

Visit the Detroit Auto Show this week at Cobo Hall and experience the new Mercedes vehicles and other autos in one magnificent place. While you’re there, take a trip through a place that has contributed so much to the nation’s cultural history and development.

CEO Weight Loss Challenges

Today’s CEO is, on average, healthier than yesterday’s CEO. The days when “fat cats” populated board rooms are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Still, most CEOs and other executives could stand to lose a little bit of weight here and there. As we start out the new year, it is worth taking a minute to identify some of the weight loss challenges facing executives today.

One of the biggest challenges in CEO weight loss is time. As CEO, you work hard, and you work long hours. When you get into your Mercedes at the end of the day, you don’t feel like stopping off at the gym on the way home. You can get past this challenge by working out at home, or by utilizing company fitness equipment.

Another challenge is the CEO diet. Power lunches can often help to pack on the pounds. Before you go to lunch, call ahead to check out the menu. Choose a balanced meal, without too many calories.

Whether you realize it or not, and whether it’s right or it’s wrong, your success in losing weight will be a reflection of your success as a CEO. Identify your challenges today and work to make them irrelevant.

GLK Benz Mercedes Great for Winter Driving

What would your answer be if I asked you the following question: Which automaker manufactures the most 4×4 models?

I’m thinking your first answer wouldn’t be Mercedes-Benz. But did you know you’d be wrong? There are 50 Benz Mercedes models that offer 4×4 models, more than any other automaker today. And ten of those 4×4 models are included in the E-Class segment alone.

But this spring, Benz Mercedes is introducing its 51st 4WD vehicle in the compact SUV it has named the GLK. The GLK by Benz Mercedes was first manufactured for the German armed forces. It was offered to the public in 1979. This is when the Benz Mercedes 4WD history began. In 1987, the E-Class segment of Mercedes-Benz was the first to carry the “4Matic” label that gives more modern 4WD capabilities in 50 Benz Mercedes models today.

A review of the upcoming GLK was favorable, too. The driver reviewing the compact SUV took it to the Tyrolean ski resort where it was “responsive to turns of the steering wheel as it went over the snowy road.” It also has electronic stabilization systems that apply the brakes to individual wheels as needed. It’s an intuitive system that anticipates and reduces driver mistakes.

Check out these new Mercedes vehicles at a local dealer once they hit the market. Once winter arrives and you are behind the wheel of a GLK, you’ll be glad you invested you money in one of Benz’s 4×4 rides.

Save Gas When Driving Your Used Mercedes-Benz

If you’ve been driving your used Mercedes-Benz around town lately, you’ve probably noticed that gas prices are starting to inch back up. They are nowhere near where they were a few months ago, but gas prices are starting to increase once again. Luckily, there are some things you can do while driving your used Mercedes-Benz to save yourself some gas money and squeeze more miles from every gallon.

• Slow down. One of the most efficient methods for saving gas is to drive slower. Going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone will not save any gas and you might even get a ticket from it. Slow down in your used Mercedes-Benz and you’ll be a more efficient driver.
• Accelerate gradually. “Punching it” from a red light or trying to get up to your desired speed in three seconds or less will destroy your gas mileage. Instead, take your time and accelerate slowly to get more miles from each gallon of fuel.
• Shut it off in the drive-thru. If you find yourself waiting in a restaurant’s drive-thru, turning your used Mercedes-Benz off will save gas instead of leaving it running.

Just because you are driving Mercedes vehicles doesn’t mean you don’t like to save money. Use these fuel-saving tips to get more from each dollar you spend at the pump.

Driving Drunk in Your Used Mercedes-Benz? Report Yourself!

Whether you’re driving a used Mercedes-Benz or any other type of vehicle, driving drunk is the mother of all no-nos. This 17-year-old girl in North Dakota must have realized this a little bit too late.

The girl’s name is not being released, but she called 911 while she was behind the wheel and under the influence. Luckily, she was sober enough to pull over in a parking lot after calling 911. She sat there and waited with the keys out of the ignition, but she was obviously drunk. She also said she was driving around for hours after getting drunk at a New Year’s party. Fortunately, she didn’t get in any accidents.

“She told us her life was spiraling out of control, and she had spent the majority of time drinking over the past two weeks,” said Lt. Randy Ziegler, an officer that responded to the call. He went on to say, “I’ve never heard of such a thing happening, and neither has anyone here.”

You should always have enough sense to avoid driving your Mercedes vehicles or any other cars when you’ve been drinking. Even if you’ve “only had a couple,” be safe and have respect for other drivers.

New Concept Benz Mercedes to Appear at Detroit Auto Show

The 2009 North American International Auto Show is coming up in a few weeks and you can expect to see a new concept Benz Mercedes vehicle this year.

In an effort to continue towards its goal of being more eco-friendly and responsible, the Benz Mercedes company is debuting its Concept BlueZERO this year in Detroit, the home of automobile manufacturing.

The new concept car is based on the A and B-Class platforms and includes a “modular structure [allowing] for three different drive configurations.” It also runs on a battery that has a range of more than 100 miles. Another model is the BlueZERO F-Cell that runs on an electric motor powered by a fuel cell. This model has a range of almost 250 miles, making it a direct competitor of the Honda FCX Clarity and other cars in the class.

These Benz Mercedes vehicles won’t go into production just yet, though. Concept cars typically take a couple years to go from the concept stage to the production stage. Some concept cars do not even make it to the production stage. Keep your eyes peeled for these models at your local dealer.
