Cheap Body Maintenance for Your Used Mercedes-Benz
If you have a used Mercedes-Benz, you definitely want to take care of it and keep it looking new for as long as possible. However, body work can be very expensive and it can drain your bank account if you take your used Mercedes-Benz to the shop every time you get a dent. Luckily, you can do some repairs yourself for a fraction of the cost.
Take a chipped windshield, for instance. Getting this fixed or replaced by a professional could cost hundreds of dollars. Even if your claim it on your insurance, your premiums will go up and you’ll pay extra in the long run. You can get a kit from your local auto parts store for about $10 and fix it temporarily by sealing it from moisture. This will help prevent the chip from spreading into a crack across your entire windshield.
Did you notice a scuff on the paint job of your used Mercedes-Benz? A simple compound from your local auto parts store will cost you about $20, but you can probably use it hundreds of times to get scuffs out with a rag and some elbow grease. If you take your Mercedes vehicles to a professional to get a scuff out, you could pay $100 each time!
But what if the spot is more than just a scuff? If it’s a scratch, you can find an inexpensive bottle of touch-up paint to fix the problem and cover it with some clear coat. It will look almost like brand new!
Get Sirius This Season for Your Used Mercedes-Benz
There are several additions you can make to your used Mercedes-Benz this holiday season, but only one will make every drive a better experience.
Sirius XM Satellite Radio is giving potential customers a great deal on Black Friday this year. You can take advantage of their “Best of Both” promotion and get a free trial of this exciting service.
This is the first advertising campaign in which both entities are included under a single banner. But when you purchase either service, you can get three free months of both of them. One service generally costs about $16.99 each month and you can add the other service for an extra cost of $4 a month. There are also less expensive “tiers” of either service if you don’t think you’ll use all of the available channels.
Advertisers with the company hope the joint campaign will reduce customer confusion. You may also notice fewer commercials on TV for the product and more on the radio. “We think changing it up was a good idea,” said Jim Meyer, the operations and sales president. “We’re excited about [radio] because we think it is an efficient vehicle to get new listeners.”
You can sign up for either service for your Mercedes vehicles at your local electronics store, such as Best Buy or Circuit City.
What Should Your Allowance Be with Certified Used Cars?
As more and more people are turning to financial experts these days to evaluate their spending habits and make necessary cutbacks, certified used cars look more appealing. A recent question to a financial advice blog in Cleveland asked if 10 percent was an acceptable allowance for vehicles. The answer might surprise you.
The answer was based on a $50,000 annual income. I think it’s safe to say this is a stretch and that most people don’t make that much. For argument’s sake, we won’t consider income taxes on that figure. When you divide that by 12, that leaves a little more than $415 per month allotted for the car.
Sounds good, right? Not.
Did you consider insurance? That’s probably about $100 a month. Did you consider gas? Depending on your commute, that could be a good chunk of money. Let’s figure $150 a month for gas. That leaves about $165. That’s not bad. But you haven’t accounted for repairs and maintenance either. By the time you’re done, you’re not left with much for your payment if you only allocate 10 percent of your income.
But you can get the biggest “bang for your buck” by investing in certified used cars. That way, you don’t have to worry as much about repairs and such and you can drive around in a quality vehicle. While you’re at it, check out the certified Mercedes vehicles at a dealer near you!
New Benz Mercedes Website Appeals to Older Demographic
In an effort to reach an older group of car buyers and drivers, Mercedes-Benz is launching a new website that appeals to a demographic over the age of 32.
The new website is in the planning stages as the automaker continues to make itself relevant in society and on the roads. “In marketing, you have to stay relevant,” said Steve Cannon, the vice president of marketing for Benz Mercedes. “Certainly some brands are more challenged than others in staying relevant and vital to this new audience,” he explained. The new website, which is located at GenerationBenz.com, helps the advertising segment of Benz Mercedes gather anonymous data about customers so they can better serve their needs.
The new website serves as a sort of social marketing website where like-minded people can come together and share their Benz Mercedes vehicles stories and other interests.
Cannon went on to say this about the new website: “Here we have a generation that actually likes their parents and would definitely drive what their parents drove.” As a result, a website that appeals to parents and grandparents may increase sales among older demographics. This in turn leads to their children appreciating and respecting the car choices that their parents and grandparents make.
Make Sure Your Used Mercedes-Benz Has Airbags
If you’re thinking about purchasing a used Mercedes-Benz, make sure it has airbags for your own safety. This is often one of the most overlooked features that buyers think about when buying a car, but it’s also one of the most important features that any car should have.
Airbags are expensive. When a person gets into an accident, they can’t just shove the airbag back into place and hope it works again. It can cost hundreds of dollars to fix it or replace it. That’s why many people do not go through the trouble.
One of the things that will give you a clue about the status of the airbag in your used Mercedes-Benz is the light. If the airbag light comes on when you turn the car on and then the light goes out a few seconds later, that’s a good clue that it’s in working order. However, if the light just stays on or does not come on at all, do some further investigating. Take the car to a trusted mechanic so they can check it for you.
Of course, you can forget about all this trouble by investing in certified used Mercedes vehicles. When it’s certified, you know it’s going to have quality and all the features you’d expect. When it comes to your safety and the safety of your family, it’s worth it.
More People Taking Care of Their Certified Used Cars
In the last few months, we’ve posted several blogs that reported how drivers were foregoing maintenance on their certified used cars in order to save money. While that trend is still going on for many drivers, some local service stations are noticing a surge in drivers wanting preventative maintenance on their certified used cars to ensure they last as long as possible.
This particular story is from a local newspaper in Virginia. Mechanics and service garages in Fredericksburg are much busier than they were about six months ago. That’s because drivers are beginning to realize that it’s much cheaper to get preventative maintenance on their certified used cars instead of waiting until the problem gets too expensive to repair. They can’t afford major repairs and they perish the thought of another car payment. As a result, they are taking better car of their cars.
The article also reports that drivers are, on average, hanging on to their cars longer than before. About 41 percent of Americans are currently driving a car that is at least 11 years old.
Part of the reason is the fact that they don’t want to make a monthly car payment. However, the recent credit crunch has made financing much more difficult to obtain, whether it’s for Mercedes vehicles or something more affordable.
Take some advice from someone who has learned the hard way. Pay a little extra now to take care of your vehicles or you’ll be paying a lot more later.
Drive Your Benz Mercedes to This Season’s Philadelphia Events
There’s no better way to arrive at the Philadelphia Eagle’s games this season than in a brand new Benz Mercedes. The Eagles have had a truly memorable season and any fan of football is sure to enjoy their performance at the remainder of this year’s home games.
Once you arrive at a game in your Benz Mercedes, the pre-game celebration is sure to ignite your fire to root for the home team. Lincoln Financial Field is one of the most energetic stadiums in the NFL and Philadelphia is filled with some of the biggest sports fans in the country, too. One thing they enjoy doing is tailgating outside the stadium when the Philadelphia Eagles are playing. You probably wouldn’t want to use your Benz Mercedes vehicles for this purpose, but you could find some other tailgaters and create some new friendships.
If you go in the stadium, you can experience a variety of fun events. Live pre-game shows are sure to get you excited as you eat good old-fashioned hot dogs from the concession stand or something else reminiscent of ball parks. Just arrive about two hours before game time and you can have a great time!
Three Tips for Selling Your Used Mercedes-Benz
When it comes time to upgrade your car, you may want to sell your used Mercedes-Benz first. That way, you can invest in a new or newer certified used Mercedes-Benz that you can enjoy for many more years. However, selling your used Mercedes-Benz may not be as simple as you may think. Here are some tips to remember so you can get top dollar for your used Mercedes-Benz.
Do a private sale. You are sure to make a better profit by selling your used Mercedes-Benz yourself instead of letting a dealer handle it or trading it in. Just be sure you make the selling price reasonable so you make a profit and potential buyers will be interested in buying it.
Clean it up. A clean car on the inside and outside looks more attractive and gives the impression that you took good care of it while you had it. Pay a few bucks to get it washed and detailed and you’ll be able to set the price a little higher.
Advertise like crazy. Advertise your used Mercedes vehicles everywhere you can – online, at church, at the supermarket, in the newspaper, etc. The more places you advertise, the more likely you’ll be to find someone willing to pay top dollar.
AMG Mercedes Shows Respect for its Clients
The newest AMG Mercedes-Benz Black Series is more than just a redesigned car. Normally, automakers tend to take an existing model of their existing lineup and add a couple new features and call it something different. But the new AMG Mercedes isn’t like that.
The new AMG Mercedes is the 2009 SL65. This is a limited edition AMG Mercedes and the automaker only produced about 350 of them for sale worldwide. That’s okay, though, because with a price tag at nearly $300,000, there probably aren’t too many people that can afford them during these tough economic times.
One of the modifications for the new AMG Mercedes includes a “DTM-racing inspired, flared carbon-fiber bodywork.” The only things carried over from the previous model are the doors that are made of durable aluminum. The other body panels are made of steel with other body parts manufactured from durable and aerodynamic carbon. This helps reduce the car’s weight by at least 500 pounds.
Underneath the hood, the 6.0-liter twin turbo engine is a V12, the most powerful in the production’s history. The engine is capable of 661 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, giving it capabilities that only the bravest drivers have discovered.

Do Certified Used Cars Really Need an Oil Change Every 3,000 Miles?
There was a time when cars needed an oil change every 3,000 miles or every three months, whichever came first. However, your certified used cars may not need this and you could be paying unnecessarily for oil changes that you don’t need.
Goodwrench is working on debunking some myths and this is the one they want to start with. One reason for debunking this myth is because it’s good for the environment to skip unnecessary oil changes. According to the director of the California EPA, only one gallon of oil can pollute one million gallons of water.
In addition to that, the American Petroleum Institute says that at least one billion gallons of motor oil are sold in the United States alone. About 185 million of those gallons are disposed of improperly every year.
As a result, you should follow the owner’s manual for your certified used cars and your Mercedes vehicles. Only get oil changes according to the manufacturer’s guidelines if you want to save money and help the environment. Besides, you know when a service garage is telling you to cut back on some maintenance procedures for your certified used cars, it’s something that is very important.
