The 2010 Mercedes S-Class S400 Hybrid is the company’s first ever hybrid vehicle to make it to market. The hybrid S400 comes with a 3.5 liter V6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. From the outside, you cannot even tell it’s a hybrid. The Mercedes S400 hybrid comes with all of the standard Mercedes bells & whistles that we have all grown to love.

The bloggers over at AutomotiveCraze.com reviewed the Mercedes S400 Hybrid back in September 2009. You probably have not heard much about the 2010 Mercedes S400 Hybrid with all of the other automakers coming out with hybrid models. But Mercedes-Benz is happy to be in the background as long as the company is making superior cars that the most discerning and distinguished car buyers will notice.

That’s exactly what MB has done with the 2010 S400 Hybrid. Mercedes-Benz is the first automaker to put a next generation lithium-ion battery pack into one of its production hybrids. That gives the car more range than comparable hybrids on the market today.

In addition to that, the S400 is the first Mercedes-Benz hybrid vehicle to get into showrooms. Along with the hybrid technology, the MB S-Class vehicles also have a new look with a refreshed grille, new headlight clusters and new bumpers to make it stand out from previous generations and other models. The S400 Hybrid includes a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a seven-speed automatic transmission along with an electric motor mounted between the two. The hybrid system “never operates in electric-only mode the way the one in the Toyota Prius does” and the electric motor helps the engine and lets it shut off when the car comes to a stop. That’s something other hybrids just don’t do.

Most families, when they find themselves needing room for a couple extra kids and a trunkful of equipment, go for a minivan or a station wagon. The R350 gets its power from a 3.5 liter 268-hp V6 engine, and the all-wheel drive and 7-speed automatic transmission make for the sort of smoothly elegant driving experience that you’d expect from a Mercedes. The suspension contributes a good deal to the smooth ride, too, with four-wheel independent suspension, front and rear stabilizer bar, and self leveling suspension.

As for the driver, they’ll want for absolutely no convenience in this luxury family wagon. The R350 is pre-wired for phone and includes Bluetooth, a trip computer, rain sensing wipers, privacy glass, and incredibly comfortable seats.

Of course, every family vehicle has to have safety as a paramount concern, luxury vehicle or no. The R350 has you covered there with 4-wheel ABS, ventilated front disc and solid rear disc brakes, front, rear, and third row airbags, child safety locks, child seat anchors, and a post-collision safety system. At first thought, you may think purchasing a Mercedes-Benz owned by Adolf Hitler is evil. But to Dmitry Lomakov, these cars are a rare yet prudent symbol of Russia’s dominance during the World War II era.

“They are symbols of Russia’s victory,” explains Lomakov. “For Russians,” he says, “the second world war isn’t a historical event. For us it happened yesterday.” Lomakov directs the Moscow museum which houses and displays three rare vehicles that were once owned by Hitler’s Nazi regime. The facility has the Mercedes-Benz 540K which was once owned by Joseph Goebbels, the Horch-853 limousine that Hermann Goering owned and Martin Boorman’s MB 320.

But an avid collector recently purchased the most notable Mercedes-Benz used during Hitler’s tirade – the MB 770K, which was once owned by the tyrannical dictator himself. It was part of the dictator’s official fleet of vehicles and he has even been photographed standing in the luxury vehicle while crowds saluted him.

The price that the anonymous Russian collector paid for the memorabilia was not released, but Lomakov knows who bought it and he probably knows the price the man paid for it. “He may have bought Hitler’s car out of patriotism. Or as an investment,” he explained.

Your Mercedes-Benz is a fine-tuned machine from one of the best auto manufacturers in the world. As such, it takes maintenance and TLC to keep it running smooth and at its optimal performance. So when a dashboard light on your Mercedes vehicles lights up, you want to get the problem taken care of right away. Here are some common dashboard warnings and what they are trying to tell you.

Brake Light
Some MB models have a dashboard light that alerts the driver when something is wrong with the brakes. If your parking brake is not on but the warning light is, the most common problem is low brake fluid.

Oil Light
If you see your oil light come on, it probably means you need to add oil to your Mercedes. Do this as soon as possible or you risk damaging the engine. If the light stays on after you add oil, there could be a leak in the oil pressure. Take it to a mechanic right away if this is the case.

Check Engine Light
The “check engine” light could refer to a number of problems with either your engine or the transmission. Sometimes it is as simple as a loose gas cap, but it’s best to get your Mercedes to a mechanic as soon as possible when this light comes to avoid further possible damage.
